The Kartvelologist (E-ISSN: 1512-441X; P-ISSN: 1512-1186) is a bilingual (Georgian and English) peer-reviewed, academic journal, covering all spheres of Kartvelological studies.
Along with introducing scholarly novelties in Georgian Studies, it aims at popularization of essays of Georgian researchers on the international level and diffusion of foreign Kartvelological studies in Georgian scholarly circles.
The Kartvelologist issues both in printed and electronic form. In 1993-2009 it came out only in printed form (#1-15).
The content is edited and prepared by the “TSU Centre for Kartvelian Studies” at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU), financially supported by the “Fund of the Kartvelological School” and is published by Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University Publishing House (The Press was founded in 1933. It is a part of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University. Its purpose is to support the successful implementation scientific, educational and educational activities of the University. The Kartvelologist publishes articles of scholars working on the issues of Kartvelian studies:
- Georgian Literature in English Translations. Under this heading, each issue of the journal will carry a Georgian author’s work or excerpt in an available English literary translation, in parallel with the Georgian text.
- Kartvelological chronicle. Under this heading a review of recent important developments in Kartvelological scholarship will be given (of a Kartvelological congress or important symposia; information about the holding of a Summer School, etc), or information reports on significant facts brought to light in Georgian Studies.
- Eminent Kartvelologists. This will be devoted to a review of the scholarly activity of well-known Kartvelologists of earlier centuries or of the present day; a bibliography of Kartvelological studies, or greetings in connection with their anniversary dates.
